I plan on buying these for my daughters and nieces, ideally I’d like about 6 of them.

It appears places are drastically limiting them to 1 person on black friday? I know target, toys r us, and walmart sell them so I’m going to try there.

If I get there early enough I should be able to find them, anyone know about what type of limits they’re enforcing at each store? Does anyone have a game plan? Like toys r us opens at midnight, so if you want the ZHU ZHu there you have to show up at midnight. Anyone have a better game plan to get multiple zhu zhu petS? Those online tracker things are useless, I don’t stand by my computer 24/7.

I don’t understand how these resellers get such large shipments, when they limit quantities to one or two per person.

My opinion:
A) Id reason with my kids they do not need the plastic toy hamsters for Christmas
B) If A does not work, I’d bite the bullet and buy from resellers. Due to my self respect I’d surely not be camping in front of a store before midnight to maybe get enough of them and maybe save some $$$…

Well, this tool at watchmyitems.com sounds a LOUD audible alarm when it is available on Amazon.com at retail price (Not the inflated ones at $60+) that’ll even wake you up when you’re asleep so you don’t have standy by your computer 24/7.
OnlineShopper | Nov 25, 2009

There are several ways to go here. I guess it depends on your tolerance for discomfort. You can:

1. Do the whole "push your way to the front of the line" thing and get up early and argue with the store clerks and other parents and all that stuff. That shows real love and determination I have to say…

2. You can us the method eBay resellers use to get their hands on these items before they hit the store shelves…save money in the process…and do it in your living room.

3. Just skip the nasty buggers! They will probably only hold your kids attention for a week (if you are lucky). I have three kids and it has happened to me so many times…

Last season I used #2 to get the Wii and I know a reseller who uses this system to get anything that’s hard to get at cost. I write about it in http://hardtogetonline.com. I guess its worth a shot, but its totally up to you. This season…im going with option #3.

I don’t know if it is company policy or not, but my local Toysrus limits them to 1 per person/family per day. Target does the same. Walmart has no limits but they also only have a very small section (1 ft wide, 3 pegs, 3 shelves) so they probably don’t expect many.

If you are planning on getting to Toysrus at midnight, then you will probably find yourself SOL on the Zhu Zhu pets. You probably need to plan on swinging by about 6pm at the latest and seeing what the line is like. You may get lucky, but I can’t see anybody that isn’t willing to wait in line for at least 4 hours getting a Zhu Zhu pet.

As far as resellers getting shipments, the short answer is because we ordered them. For Christmas, there was really only three options for resellers. Order direct from china by the container (at $50,000 a pop) or order from one of two distributors. The only big box I know of that took any kind of chance on Zhu Zhu pets was TRU and they still didn’t get enough. Personally, I thought they were going to be hot and ordered a huge order of them at the beginning of September and I just recently got about 1/3 of my order in.

If this helps, they’re all four in stock at gamestock.ecrater.com. That’s where I bought mine. Arrived yesterday!

Not quite sure about a game plan but I got all Zhu Zhu Pets thankfully with the help of this site http://www.squidoo.com/zhuzhupetsblackfr iday. Basically the tool described lets you "watch" out of stock items at Amazon.com and you get notified as soon as its available again.

I can’t find any species of snake that are eaten by eastern coyotes. I need to make a food chain for a report, with five links (producer, primary consumer, secondary consumer, tertiary consumer, and decomposer) Does anyone know which species of snakes coyotes eat? If not, does anyone know where I can find a detailed food chain (detailed as in with specific species)

I don’t think coyotes eat snakes.

use a cat in place of a snake
kuwaizair | Nov 23, 2009

A coyote might eat any kind of snake…Garter Snakes, Corn Snakes, Rat Snakes, and others. Coyotes are very opportunistic eaters and would eat nearly anything. Snakes aren’t a main part of its diet, though. Deer, small rodents and birds are its main meals.

Is my puppy going to be a problem?
My puppy is only 8 weeks old so I don’t expect her to be well trained or perfect. She attached to me very quickly after arriving home 2 days ago. Whenever I leave the room where she can’t go or leave her with someone else she howls and whines excessively. It may be normal for a baby I’m just concerned it will turn into separation anxiety as she ages. Any suggestions are welcome thanks.

Well, my solution is not appropriate for everyone, but I had a puppy who did the same thing. I went out and bought a female puppy to keep him company (both of them are getting fixed as soon as they are old enough). Now I have two perfectly happy and content puppies. Before when I left the house, he would poop in his crate and howl the whole time I was gone. Now I crate them together, and I come home to find them cuddling and snoring.
c'est la vie | Nov 21, 2009

my puppy, he has a seperation problem and if we leave the house, he chews up anything he can find… so we put him in a cage b4 we leave and when he’s bad.
Morgan | Nov 21, 2009

It is utterly normal for a baby two days away from her mom to wail when left alone. Alone is an unnatural state for dogs, especially for puppies. Get her used to her own crate for sleeping, and carry her from room to room with you, and set the crate near you where she can see you. Talk to her, look at her often, occasionally go over and pet her for a moment. Then go back to what you were doing.

Keep the crate next to your bed so she knows she’s with you. If you leave the pup with someone else, ask them to follow the same pattern of behavior.
Jenny | Nov 21, 2009

Eight weeks is VERY young, so her behavior is pretty normal. Just try to be with her as often as possible, and definitely look into crate training. As for training, there are some things that really are a must…come when called, stay, sit, heel and to shush (stop barking or whining, etc.). These are the basics that will keep you happy and the dog knowing its place. A well trained dog doesn’t need to know tricks. It only needs to know enough not to get into trouble and stay a welcome member of your household. When a dog isn’t properly trained, that’s when it gets into trouble and both the dog and the people involved become frustrated…The dog will act out, and its people will react negatively. Crate training solves dozens of problems and prevents the problems from ever developing if you get it started right away. Enjoy your puppy. It will grow up soon enough, and it will get past the anxiety of being along, but right now, it’s still just a baby, and every baby needs a lot of attention and love in order to grow into a well behaved, productive member of the family.
Let it Roll | Nov 21, 2009

Seriously? She’s 8 weeks old…she obviously feels safe with you and that’s why she wines when you leave. Think about this. If you were a small child and taken away from your parents, but you knew someone that was with you that wouldn’t hurt you, and they left, even for a few hours, you wouldn’t be scared? You wouldn’t want that person back by you right away?

She’s a puppy. She bonded with you. The puppy will learn that she is safe, but you have to give it time. When you are around her of course let her know she is loved, but remember she is a baby, and babies get scared.

Make sure whoever else is there pets her, loves her, takes care of her when you are not around. She will come around, all of my dogs love people, though at first they were scared, it just takes time and people letting them know they aren’t going to hurt them, especially when they are that young. Mamma isn’t around anymore and they have no idea what’s going on. It’s up to you to help them.

PS I HATE Crates, so all these people who are talking about crates obviously don’t know how to take care of pup. It’s an excuse so they don’t have as much responsibility. If you’re going to get a dog make sure you have a yard and are capable of taking care of them. There is NO REASON for a dog to be CAGED.
Tasha | Nov 21, 2009

Tasha is absolutely correct. I would just add, once she has had her shots, take her to puppy kindergarten classes. It will help socialize her with other puppies and people and teach you how to communicate with her.

How to reduce seperation aniexty

1. Don’t give him attention when he howling barking excessively. Instruct your puppy sitter to ignore him until he calms down.

2. Don’t pat him immediately when you walk in the door, wait 15mintues until he calms

3. Change your rountine so he can’t predicate when your leaving.

4. Give him a chew toy to keep himself entertained while your gone.

Dogs with separation anxiety exhibit distress and behavior problems when they’re left alone. The most common behaviors include:

Digging and scratching at doors or windows in an attempt to reunite with their owners
Destructive chewing
Howling, barking, and whining
Urination and defecation (even with otherwise housetrained dogs)
Is it separation anxiety?
If most, or all, of the following statements are true about your dog, he may have a separation anxiety problem:

The behavior occurs primarily when he’s left alone and typically begins soon after you leave.
He follows you from room to room whenever you’re home.
He displays effusive, frantic greeting behaviors.
The behavior occurs whether he’s left alone for short or long periods.
He reacts with excitement, depression, or anxiety to your preparations to leave the house.
What causes separation anxiety
It’s not fully understood why some dogs suffer from separation anxiety and others don’t. But it’s important to realize that the destruction and house soiling that often occur with separation anxiety are part of a panic response. Your dog isn’t trying to punish you for leaving him alone.

Following are some common scenarios that can trigger separation anxiety:

A dog accustomed to constant human companionship is left alone for the first time.
A dog suffers a traumatic event (from his viewpoint), such as time at a shelter or boarding kennel.
There’s a change in the family’s routine or structure or the loss of a family member or other pet.
How to treat minor separation anxiety

Don’t make a big deal out of arrivals and departures. For example, when you arrive home, ignore your dog for the first few minutes then calmly pet him.
Leave your dog with an article of clothing that smells like you, such as an old T-shirt that you’ve slept in recently.

Things that are small enough to fit in a shoebox sized box, please. I’m trying to put together a "Christmas in a box" gift for my long distance boyfriend because we can’t be together this holiday season. I’m sending him a season of his favourite show on DVD but he knows about that so this is just an extra little surprise.

What things that remind you of Christmas could I put in? I already have fake snow, a tree ornament, candy canes, a Christmas card, fake mistletoe and a small stocking with chocolate in it. Any other ideas to go in the box or tiny stocking stuffer ideas would be much appreciated!

Swollen chest pains + cracking (left side) plus mucus in the morning (used to include blood), can you help?
My symptoms have been on and off for a few years now. As explained in the subject title my left side of my chest becomes swollen and makes a cracking/popping noise. I’m pretty sure it’s the upper parts of my ribs. When I start to worry about it I tend to get an achy left arm, as well as palpitations on extreme occasions. As the cracking and pains happen on the left side I’ve had to ban myself from sleeping that way because it makes it worse.

On top of that in the mornings when it happens I get a lot of mucus/phlegm which is stuck in my throat in the mornings. On specific occasions in which I’d eat food at 9-10PM+ (which I obviously don’t do now once I noticed the pattern) blood would be mixed in with it. I never feel to the need to cough it up, I can just feel it in my throat and I get it out with little effort. It would get worse at times when I’ve slept on my back, making it a complete no-no.

I don’t smoke cigarettes or drugs, I used to have small amounts of alcohol once a week but have only been out drinking once in the last two years which was two weeks a go.

In the last three years I’ve had a chest X-Ray, an echo-cardiogram and three blood-tests this year in total to keep check on what I’m assuming is an unrelated raised liver (which according to the results has been getting better with each test). None have pointed out any problems.

The doctor sent me to a teeth and mouth specialist who thought there was something wrong with my gums, who in turn told me to speak about it to my dentist. They looked and gave me the all clear as far as my mouth was concerned.

One thing I think I’ve noticed which I’m going to mention to my doctor when I go to see him next is that I think I’ve had burning sensations up my throat which I left to go away on its own instead of having heartburn tablets, I don’t know whether it’s a coincidence or not but it seems to happen around then. My dad’s side of the family has a history of heartburn, my dad can’t eat a curry without it setting it off.

The chest pains themselves seem to get worse during the day when I eat chocolate or sugary products. Admittedly I don’t get as much exercise as I should and I spend a lot of time in general at the PC as I am now, but normally when I’m sat down right now I can’t feel anything from my chest other than my achy arm from typing. Everything I’ve described happens two to three times a year. Other than that I’m a otherwise healthy 23 year-old male.

Any ideas as to what this might be? Have you experienced the same thing?
