Am I right about the Halloween movies?
Ok, so basically the original Halloween movies is where Michael Myers wants to kill his sister because killing all his relatives will release him from a curse that he has.
However, in the REMAKES of Halloween it is different. He wants his sister so he can reunite with her and become a family again.
Am I correct?
Actually in the original Halloween films, he has a strange obsession with murder and kills for no reason. He just kills. In Zombie’s 2007 rendition, he kills because his family is red-neck and white trash. They neglect him and disrespect him, with the possible exception of his mother. In his recent follow-up, Michael wants to reunite with his sister, like you said, so they can be a family again. So basically you were partially correct.

In the new movies he wants to kill his sister so they can all be together again. It’s essentially the same premise as the other, he thinks once she’s dead things can be happy again
Peach | Sep 12, 2009
Actually, you aren’t completely right. In the original Halloweens (I and II at least), he kills because he is evil and for no other reason. The later sequels in the series try to turn it all into something, but fail miserably.
But you are right about the remakes.

Calculus Work integral problem!! (physicsyesque!)?
A tank is full of water. Find the work W required to pump the water out of the spout. (Use 9.8 for g. Round your answer to three significant digits.)
a = 4 b = 4 c = 12 d = 2
http://www.webassign.net/scalcet/6-4-021 alt.gif
My attempt at the solution:
W=d*F; F=ma; g=9.8;
Mass of slice mi= dx*w*c; were w is the width of the triangle.
x/w=a/b due to proportionality; so w=x*b/a
therefore mi=dx*x*b/a;
W=(m*a)*d; dW=(dx*x*b/a*g)*(d+a-x)
and then I integrate from 0 to a to get work- but it doesn’t work and i’m unsure of what i’m doing wrong.
heres my integral: http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=a%3 D4,+b%3D4,+c%3D12,+d%3D2,+g%3D9.8,+integ rate+(x*c*b/a*g)*(d%2Ba-x)*dx+from+x%3D0 +to+a

I am in desperate need of book recommendations! What's a good book? (Favorite genres inside)?
I just ran out of books to read, and it’s annoying me to the end of the world. I need some literature, please. My four favorite genres are action, horror, mystery, and fantasy/sci-fi. I also enjoy romance, as long as the book has plot and substance. I’ll read a lot of things, just nothing historical or non-fiction, because it bores me to death (exceptions being Freakonomics, because that’s fun, and well-written holocaust stories, because those can be really good books). I read young-adult books mostly I guess, I just really hate bubble-gum teen stuff like gossip girls (mostly, though maybe a good book in that section could convince me otherwise, I dunno). Any age group of reading is fine, though, especially if it’s by Stephen King, Anne Rice, Dean Koontz, or Kurt Vonnegut. Some books I like: Harry Potter, Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy Series, The Lovely Bones, Kite Runner, the Book Thief, the Hunger Games, the Shining, the Vampire Chronicles, Life of Pi, Welcome to the Monkey House, Wicked.
Some books I didn’t like/ please do not recommend these: Twilight (absolutely hate it!!), Eragon (meh), the Davinci Code (another meh), the House of Night series, the Clique.
Anyways, if anybody has ANY books to recommend, I’d love to hear it. The stuff above is just to sort of narrow it down I guess, so just about any book you’ve read would be great to hear. Thank you!
The "Deadly Sins" series by Lawrence Saunders are some really whacked-out mysteries, although very adult in nature.
A good Holocaust book, again very adult, is Sophie’s Choice by William Styron. Speaking of Styron, the Confessions of Nat Turner is a fictionalized account of Nat Turner’s famous slave rebellion. I just read it last year and it’s excellent.

Is the RWS 350 a good buy?
I am looking into buying a RWS 350 magnum air rifle from Pyramyd Air, and would like to see what people think of it before dropping $350 on it. I definitely want the .22 Cal rather than the .177, and will be using the gun to hunt rabbits, rats, crows, and to target shoot at between 10 and 60 yards. I own 2 other pellet guns but this would be by far the most expensive, and I wonder if it is really worth it considering the gun is 100$ more than a nice Ruger 10/22. Thanks for any help!
no, get the 10/22 or better yet, get a marlin 60. You already have air rifles, get a .22LR. The marlin 60 is semiauto and only about $170 or so. its a great begginer rifle if you want a semi auto an better than the 10/22
i aint anti air rifle, i just figured since you already have two, get a .22 rifle. some people here are just jerks.
The Rifleman | Feb 06, 2010
CF45 really likes the RWS 350. According to him its a very, very, nice gun. Based on what he’s said, its extremely accurate (1-inch groups or better) out to 40-50 yards. (60 yards might be pushing its accuracy envelope a bit though…) And its powerful at around 24 ft-lbs of muzzle energy for the .22 caliber version which means its capable of taking small game up to the size of raccoons with proper shot placement. (You’d want to be at very close range for raccoons). For the species you mentioned, you’re probably good out to 40 yards or so. Factor in the reputation for extreme durability that RWS guns have and the extremely nice (lifetime) warranty and its a really nice choice for a magnum springer.
The only thing I’d point out is that the RWS 350 is a magnum springer. That means its probably going to be a bit hold-sensitive. (You’ll need to use the artillery hold.) Then again depending on what your other pellet guns are, you may already be familiar with the artillery hold.
As for the pellet gun vs. firearm debate… If you want a pellet gun, go with the pellet gun. If you want a firearm, go with the firearm. Don’t let the anti air-gun comments of some people here automatically push you away from buying a high-end pellet gun.
J Kirsch | Feb 06, 2010
Got back into airguns about 2 years ago….so I’ve been on a few airgun blogs. Most RWS 350 Magnum owners say that it is abit hold sensitive. It is a very hard hitter though and quite accurate. Some owners send them to a professional tuner to tame her down by polishing the air chamber, spring ends etc. and do some trigger work to make it even more accurate. The work is not too difficult if you want to do it yourself…..lot’s of info on the net.
Btw, most owners say it’s abit heavy to lug around in the woods for a few hours. Airguns are in a different category than a .22lr firearm….most places you might be allowed to shoot an airgun in your backyard….but most likely not a .22lr firearm.
gamoNcrosman | Feb 06, 2010
If you really love air rifles like i do, then i would get the RWS 350. If just so-so about air rifles then i would get the Ruger. But to me shooting a crow or rabbit with a air rifle is so much more fun than a shotgun, i feel like a real sportsman when i use an air rifle. So if you do feel that way about it, it is a good buy. I can take all of your pests out to 50 yards consistently, 60-70 yards if willing to miss every 1 out of 3 shots. So yes, the RWS 350 is a good buy, lifetime warranty, powerful (24 FPE) which is capable of taking larger game such as groundhogs and raccoons. And is very accurate for its power level. So if i had the money, go for it. Good Luck and Good Hunting

My Netflix doesn't understand me. Will you be my surrogate Netflix?
I’m looking for good movie recommendations. I think the best way to get them is to list some movies that I found so engaging, after each ended, I was left wanting another movie much like it. If the majority of this list appeals to you, perhaps you and I are on the same wavelength. Perhaps you can recommend more.
I know you don’t know me, so don’t worry about whether your choices "fit" what you think I’m looking for. List movies that stuck with you. My tastes are rather eclectic, actually.
House of Sand and Fog
Gran Torrino
Things We Lost In The Fire
Bella
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Henry Poole Is Here
Sex, Lies, and Videotape
American Beauty
Spanglish
The Graduate
As Good As It Gets
I Am Sam
Magnolia
The Sixth Sense
Dancer In The Dark
Big Fish
Chasing Amy
My goodness, you Answerers are awesome. Each of you have included some movies that I have seen but forgot to put on my list. I like your tastes. I’m going to have months of viewing pleasure here. — The only problem I see is picking a best answer. When the time comes, it’s going to be a highly subjective, ALMOST random choice. If I don’t pick your answer, please don’t be insulted. Thank you for your input. You’re all great
I’ve got a great list going so far. Don’t let that stop you from giving me more movies. Help me glut my Netflix queue. // Here are some more movies to add to the list: Crash, A Clockwork Orange, Chocolat, Dirty Pretty Things, Fearless, The Photographer, Naked Lunch, Shopgirl, Waking Life, Life Aquatic.
Except for a couple that I don’t really know about (Henry Poole is Here and Bella), those are all excellent movies. Base on your film list, I would recommend these
Requiem For A Dream
Memento
The Commitments
The Talented Mr. Ripley
Being John Malkovich
Walking and Talking
My Life As A Dog
The Cider House Rules
Princess Mononoke (yes, its animated, but amazing)

I like most of your list so hopefully you will like some of the movies I recommend (some will be foreign as I see you liked Dancer in the Dark which is in english but not an american film). Look these up on imdb.com and see if the plots interest you:
Dogville – This is an amazing film, it is a bit slow at first but worth it
Happiness
Storytelling
Paranoid Park
Another Day in Paradise
Man Bites Dog – French – A mock documentary following a serial killer, very funny (then suddenly it’s not)
Oldboy – South Korean – amazing
Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance – South Korean – same director as Oldboy – amazing
Lady Vengeance – South Korean again same director as above but not as good as either, although most people disagree and say this film is the best in the series. It’s still better than 90% of all films ( I have seen) in my opinion.
Hard Candy
La Haine – French – incredible
City of Lost Children – French – very beautiful and unique film
Everybody’s Famous – Dutch – sweet film, I enjoyed it the same way I enjoyed American Beauty
Amelie – Same comment as above
Kung Fu Hustle – one of the funniest movies I have ever seen
American History X
Battle Royale – Japanese
Igby Goes Down
Party Monster
Mean Creek
Saved!
Unbreakable
Bully
Children of Men
No Country for Old Men
Little Children

10 points for honest answer?
I met a guy at a seminar and we exchanged number. 3 days later he called me to ask me out.
The 1st date was ok though I felt he was not too interested. He offered to help me find a new job. He asked me about places to go for entertainment and suggested me to join if I had free time. At the end of the date, he said "keep in touch".
4 days later, he called me to go out and said he would help me to get a job in his company. I was busy so I rejected his offer for 2nd date then he said " let me know whenever you like"
What do u think about him?
additional info: due to business, he just relocated to my town 2 weeks ago and will be staying here for years
I believe he sounds like a nice guy but, you might just want to make sure that your relationship is a boyfriend girlfriend one not just friends.Good luck Give it a chance.

How would you rate chinese people liberation army?
I found some questions ridiculous on yahoo answer regarding chinese army. Apparently they think the only strong point of Chinese army is they know kung fu -_- Here is what I understand about PLA and base on my info and facts you know for sure, how would you rate Chinese army?
As of now china has the largest army in the world. Their equipments are not as good as ones issued to british army and US army, standard chinese arm is type 54 pistol and the more recent type 90 pistol. For ground force, china has estimate 7000 tanks, it’s newest tank type 99 is consider one of the 12 strongest tank in the world, however due to expense in production of these tanks, type 90 is not largely in service. The majority of chinese tanks are type 98 main battle tanks and type 96. So I wouldn’t say their ground force is as backward as people may think. China been developing advance defence system since 1980, I know for fact they they possess EMP weaponry since 2007, however at that time they were having problem with power supply (I have some internal info on this matter). China also possess the technology to defend against air strike, Satellite espionage, and naval attack. China possess very advance defencive technology. For air force, Chinese air force as of now is currently in third generation of fighter development, with J-10 being its most advanced fighter with super-sonic capability, I would not say China has strong air force, however, in situation of defence, it’s capable of hold air space with help of anti-air defence. For naval force, almost all China’s naval force is green water, which means short ranged with little to no capability of doing long range naval battle outside of Chinese water. Recently due to the pirate incident however, it is indicated that Chinese navy does indeed have some degree of blue water battle capabilities. China declared it intention of building carrier in 2009, with carrier in chinese navy, PLA is no longer a green water based navy, but long range. Also with the help of carrier, now the chinese water are now all within air strike range should need arise. Apart from conventional ships, China possess very advanced submarines, due to early Soviet help. Chinese submarines are one of the best in the world. So generally speaking, PLA navy is very defence oriented. however in some area its navy is very capable of taking out special targets in long range, but no ability to fight large scale naval warfare.
Here’s all my info on PLA. I think PLA is very defence oriented, but definably not backwater army with only number and no technology. With Chinese annually increase military spending, it is possible PLA’s army issue equipments will soon exceed British army. And for each chinese army men, they are not badly trained as well. Chinese soldiers pulled some very incredible feats during the korean war with US, with no air-support of any kind, solely on the incredible discipline, they were able to defeat and push back US army to the point which the commander request pentagon consider using nuclear device to ensure victory. And do keep in mind, back then PLA has very little in term of arms and they had no air units at all. So no, I wouldn’t say China produce bad soldiers, in fact, I think China produce incredible soldiers whom can take on british soldier one and one in fair combat.
Here is my PLA rating:
Soldier: 4/5 for soldier discipline 3/5 for equipments 7/10 in total
Ground force: Mobile forces: 4/5, defence capability (Anti-air, anti Satellite, anti ground and naval defence) 5/5 9/10 in total
Air force: air superiority on chinese air 4/5, outside chinese air 3/5 (this includes any kind of missle strikes) total 7/10
Naval: green water navy 4/5, blue water navy 2/5, total 6/10
Anyone who wish to add on my infos (which could be wrong, do point out if you find faults). please do and please rate chinese army base on this. I would like to know how PLA fair in people’s eyes. Thank you.
There are rumors about decline in soldier eqality recently mostly due to recent terriorist attacks were effectively dealt with in western region. However I do believe the overall capability of Chinese soldiers aren’t bad at all because they all undergoes very harsh training.
For the other dude whose saying most chinese army is tied down to conflict within China, this is not true. For civilan incidents, China has very capable police force. If you are referring to terriorist activities, PLA has more than enough people to deal with threats. I know they whole Tibet thing China did move some troops, however, not even close to one military area, (China has eight military areas)
For the paper tiger friend. You seem to be a anti-chinese person. We don’t shoot our civilians. In fact in 2008, for the purpose of not hurting civilans in armed gun fight, new arms issued by Police is a new chinese made pistol with very little penetration power to ensure if misfire, civilans will not be in mortal danger. If you are talking about a riot, I believe Chinese army uses water and tear gas as oppose to actual bullets.
And please, read before post. If you are saying PLA is a paper tiger, then point out which part of my info is wrong, thus prove PLA is not as strong as I suppose. Otherwise, your words just shows how prejudice you are toward chinese people and PLA.
Strangely, i enjoyed reading that to be honest. I think the majority of your analysis is spot on, and dont be dissapointed by the negative feedback by Americans, as they all seem to believe that Russians, Chinese and North Koreans are some form of sub-human which aren’t comparable to a white American man.
However, having worked in the Japanese self defense forces, i used to work in the intelligence sector, and i must tell you, what you read on the net, and see on tv is almost complete opposite of what the Chinese army is really like.
The PLA tell the world that they currently spend around 2% of their budget, which is apporixmately 40 – 60 billion US dollars, but any well informed person, or former military personel will know this is most obviously an absolute lie.
Joint US and Japanese predictions are that China spend between 90 – 95 billion US dollars annually on the military, and due to recent equipment renewals and ‘modernising’ the PLA, this wont be very far from the truth.
They are definetly NOT a paper tiger, and will easily take on all countries surrounding them, and thats not even bringing up the option of using their nuclear weapons, in which they hold some of the most advanced delivery systems in the world, comparable of that to Russia, who they work with very closely.

in addition, members of the nuclear club, which is a huge gambit to play in any encounter, thus pretty much ensuring any large nation would never wage open war against them.
f_ranz1224 | Dec 28, 2009
Hard to judge this army, since the only people they have ever fought in a real war were unarmed or poorly armed civilians and a very long ago. My guess is, they are probably extremely bad.
Jack | Dec 28, 2009
The PLA has absolutely no ability to project power anywhere outside of China’s borders and those states that are contiguous to China. The PLA is more or less tied down protecting China’s government from China’s citizens.
War is 90% logistics and I have no reason to believe the Chinese could support an army in the field, away from China, for any length of time.

Ladies….Please Be Honest…Does she like teasing me or does she still like me?
WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME? BROKE UP 5 MONTHS AGO….ONLY TOGETHER FOR 2 MONTHS…MAYBE LESS.
I have NOT made contact with her at all. I don’t play games.
She is 19 and I’m 24. I can not tell you why I still like her, I just do. This may sound sad, but not one day has gone by that I have not thought about her. I still have unfinished business with her…Or that’s how I feel. Now, this wasn’t a typical " relationship ", We hooked up the first time we ever hung out with each other. Which was a HUGE mistake. She ended it by say that she no-longer wanted be intimate with me anymore…But she wanted to remain friends. I told her that I did not want too be friends, and that I am unable to which from a physical relationship, too nothing more than friends. I can’t do it. I have been with other women in the FIVE ( 5 ) months since are split, but I still think of her…. What do I do? Tell her how I feel about her?
about a month after a split she asked me watch her pet, while she moved into a new place, I agreed and she came over. She was spending the night, as she laid in my bed, I made a move on her and she told me to STOP…Of course I did…. Ever since this happen I have not made contact with her…She stops by my job to by stuff. ( We work for the same company, just diffrent stores ) Why can’t she buy stuff at her store?
And she resently came by my place, with my roommate ( We all work for the same company, they are friends) She had not been here since that night she DENIED me. Roommate told me that she just wanted too say HI? Okay? She asked if I was seeing anyone ( I know she is/was seeing someone, because my Co-Worker told me she had a dude drop her off at my store ( I was off that day…then 2 days later she was at my house.)
Should I tell her how I feel?
Plus, she has a NEW Boyfriend….She is going to visit him for Valentine’s Day ( My roommate is going over too feed her cats, while she’s away- He told me ) HE live’s out of state….So I guess that is the writing on the wall. She is over me… Completey.. Why would she GO out of state if she didn’t really like this guy….I’m in town, I’m a great man, WTF is wrong with me?
