IMDB rating: 6.60 Plot: When SFPD Insp. Harry Callahan ends a liquor store holdup by doing things in his usual hard-boiled manner, his bleeding-heart boss, Capt. Briggs (Bradford Dillman) demotes Harry to the personnel division. But Harry doesn’t remain there for long, as a group of terrorists rob an arms warehouse and begin a bloody extortion spree demanding $2 million from the City. Harry is paired with Insp. Kate Moore (Tyne Daly) to shut the terrorists down. Callahan is none too thrilled to be paired with Moore, but she more than proves herself when she and Harry pursue the terrorists to their hideout in the old prison of Alcatraz. |

IMDB rating: 6.50 Plot: Luther Whitney is a professional thief, who only works occasionally. He is planning what is suppose to be his last job, and everything is going smoothly until some come in before he can leave. He hides in a secret room and from behind a one-way mirror sees that it’s the wife of the owner of the house he is robbing and another man. They are fooling around when the guy decides to liven things up by striking her, she get away but he corners her, she then grabs a letter opener and is about to stab him when he cries out for help when two men come in and shoot her dead. It seems that the man is Alan Richmond, the President of the United States and the two men are the secret service agents assigned to him. Later, a woman, Gloria Russell, who is his Chief of Staff enters and upon learning of what has happened, decides to cover it up and make it appear that she was killed by a burglar. After sanitizing the room, they are about to leave but they forget the letter opener, Whitney comes out of the room and takes it and makes his getaway but when they returned for the letter opener they discover Whitney and chase him but he gets away. The police investigate the murder and there are so many inconsistencies, which makes the investigator, Seth Frank suspect that something is going on. Frank then discovers that Whitney is a possible suspect but the only thing is that he doesn’t believe that Whitney is a killer. Whitney tries to leave town but when he learns just how corrupt and amoral Richmond is he decides to play mind games with him and the others. Richmond, at the same time, tells them that Whitney must be silenced permanently. |

So here's an experiment: How many of you feel that religion is important, beneficial, and even necessary?
I have an absolute fascination so that’s why I asked. But how many of you feel that religion is beneficial, necessary, for society to function or feel that religion is unnecessary, unbeneficial, and even a disruptive and power of divison in society. Basically put whatever your beliefs or views about religion are.
I believe that beliefs are necessary for a society to function
but not religion

Depends on the religion.
Deep Thought | Nov 17, 2009
Religion is unnecessary.
Poooop | Nov 17, 2009
I think religion gets in the way of pretty much everything. It can be a real problem. I am personally not religious, however I do not hold anything against people who are. No matter what religion. I believe that people should be able to do, or believe, in whatever they want. It is their life, not yours. However my mother is very religious and she often "shoves it down my throat" and that really bothers me. I do not really like it when people try to make others believe or do what they are doing. I don’t know..just my opinion..

If you lack self-decipline and will commit atrocities if you didn’t have the threat of "hell," I’m all for it.
Amy | Nov 17, 2009
Religion is not what counts. A personal relationship with Jesus Christ is. Ask Him into your heart and watch your world change. He said if any man be in Christ he is a new creation.
Meka | Nov 17, 2009
Yes.
titacabreros | Nov 17, 2009
I think religion is unecessary. In moderation, it’s benign. But religious extremism is an enemy of social progress.
Subconsciousless | Nov 17, 2009
RELIGION IS DEFINITELY NECESSARY TO SOCIETY ESPECIALLY TO THE ONES WHO IS GOING DOWN THE WRONG RODE BECAUSE THEY WERE NEVER TAUGHT WHERE TO TURN MOST PEOPLE DONT THINK ITS IMPORTANT TO KNOW GOD AND HAVE A RELIGION AND THINGS LIKE THAT BECAUSE THEY THINK THEY CAN JUST GO THROUGH LIFE WITHOUT IT BUT WITHOUT GOD YOU ARNT GOING TO BE VERY SUCESSFUL AND IF YOU ARE THEN THATS ALL GOIN TO SHUT DOWN EVENTUALLY BECAUSE YOU DONT HAVE GOD IN YOUR LIFE OR YOU ARNT HAPPY WITH YOUR LIFE BECAUSE RICH PEOPLE HIDE FEELINGS NOT LKE IM DISCRIMINATING BECAUSE THEY WANT TO MAKE OTHERS FEEL LKE THERE FINE BUT IF YOU NEVER PUT GOD FIRST YOU WILL NEVER ACCOMPLISH WHAT YOU DREAM OF AND BE COMPLETELY HAPPY AND IF YOU DID IT WILL ALL SHUT DOWN

I believe that religion is man made in order to keep some control of our doings… though it is not 100% effective… Our faiths gather us together with others that believe the same thing and when there is a division of faith, there is a division of the Church… so, no, religion isn’t important, beneficial or even necessary… Just your faith and the acceptance of Christ as your Savior is all that is needed… God said… Where 3 or more gather in my name, there i will be also….
Matthew 18:20
For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

I am irreligious, and the way religion the history have showed has been used was in a very large part negative.
But there is also the positive part, which is the architecture, art, poetry, philosophy, spirituality, morality even the science.
The negative part is money, wars, power, mass control, fear, puritanism, duality, and other things.
Down to it, we cannot blame religion for either positive or negative, people are making religions and people are the ones who follow religion, so u cannot just blame religion for a war, because humans go and kill, not a word or an idea, humans.
Charis S | Nov 17, 2009
people owe their religion and some people awe from religion, that’s all
Anthony Baldwin | Nov 17, 2009
I think it creates war and ignorance and is therefore not crucial in a society.

Perfect World, A
December 17, 2009
|
IMDB rating: 7.20 Plot: A Perfect World touches you from the bottom of your heart. It is a story about a man and a boy. A man escapes from a prison with his partner who he does not like. After escaping, they kidnap a little boy. It is not a simple kidnapping story as people expect with violence and blood. This man, as he describes himself, is not a good guy, but not the worst either. The boy, living with his mom and two sisters, follows their family??s religion, which forbids him from celebrating Halloween, celebrating Christmas, participating in parties, and pretty much any fun common for children of his age. The man gives the boy opportunities to play the games that he wants to, tells him what is wrong and what is right, and asks him to be independent and make his own choices. |

A question to atheist?
I was just wondering hat atheist believe about life. Im a Christian, and I cant think about any other reason for life then a Creator. From our DNA to every single pattern ever, to how things fot together, that there are morals we follow, and how everything is so perfect. People may ask if there is a God why is there pain and suffering, but thats because we doubt him and sin against him. We see him in nature through his intricate design and throught what He does. He put the world at excactly 23 degrees on its axis, and if not, we would be doomed. He put the moon just in the right orbit, which is perfectly were it should be. He put us going around the sun at a rate of 365 days for an orbit around it, and it always is(beside leap year, which is patterned though every 4 years). Darwin himslef said that if there. There is proof for micro evolution, but none for macro. There is no proof for us coming from apes, but there is one for God the Creator. How can you explain all the miracles that happen that have no other answer but God? There is enough proof to believe that there was a man named Jesus. He said he was God. Therefore he was either crazy, a liar, or telling the truth. He said some of the best if not the best things on ethics and how to live ever. A man who did what he did, miracles and teachings, could not be crazy. And no ordinary man could not do miracles without the source of power of a supreme being or being a supreme being. ANd if he gave speeches on ethics and not lying, along with his mracles, he couldn’t be a crazy person or a liar. So therefore, he is God, the creator who loves all of us the same and wants you to love Him and accept him as your savior! Please ask an questions and I will try to get back to them ASAP. So what do you think?( And please excue me for any grammar goofs)
And please no rude answers. Thank you.
Sophia M, I am sorry, but God gives and takes away, and has a reason for everything. If she trusted Him, she is with Him, and He goves us these trials to see if we have full trust in Him.
sorry please excuse the darwin thing my bad not thinking.
a cloud and a watermelon are very simialar in the ways you say us and chimps are. But that little percent of DNA is the NO factor. Its what makes us unique and impoosible to be chimps.

People died in the first centrey for believing in Him. Would you die for a lie? He died for saying who He was, though most thought he was lying.
